Sadie and DJ originally reached out to me to just take normal couple photos of them while they were visiting Colorado for a wedding, but a couple months after, they decided to just go alllll the way and ELOPE! Sadie ordered a dress online, found a place in Colorado to get a bouquet, got a sign that said “Surprise! We eloped!” and they were all set!
On the date of their elopement, it rained the ENTIRE day, all the way up until it was time for us to start. (I call this Hayley Luck because mother nature always stops for me) We ended up having the most perfect weather – moody skies with the sun breaking through. Minus the 10,000 mosquito bites we all got, it couldn’t have been any better. Sadie did step into a puddle of mud immediately after stepping foot on the trail, but I said it wouldn’t be an adventurous elopement without a little dirt.
They got ready in their truck at the trail head, and we looked up a YouTube video to learn how to tie DJ’s tie. Then they said their vows next to a rushing river, with the sun shining over the mountains behind them, and even though I was far away to give them privacy, I could see so much love through my lens. We ended by sipping champagne on a rock at Bear Lake located in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a perfect, adventure filled, National Park elopement. Now I’ll stop talking and let you see the photos for yourself.
